This is a compilation of six short films about aspects of the aviation industry made in the 1960s by the Rank Organisation for showing in the Odeon chain of cinemas. They show everyday scenes of the time and have become historically important now that the world has changed so much since the 1960s.

The six short films are: -

'Air Hostess' - shows the work of an air hostess on a Vickers Viscount flight to North Africa

'Controlled Landing' - shows the workings of Heathrow Control Tower, when the controller's equipment was much more basic and sports jackets were the norm

'City of the Air' - in 1963 there were only three London airports and this film looks at all of them

'Flying to Work' - a look at Britain's first executive jet, Mr Ferranti's Brantly and other items

'The Spirit of Brooklands' - a look at the production of VC10s. Brooklands has changed considerably since those days, but part of it is now a museum which is open to the public

'The Big Take Off' - a roundup of the aviation industry as it was in 1967
