DVD and VIDEO FORMATS 

DVDs
The world is divided up into six regions, each region being assigned a specific region code.

DVDs are stamped with these region specific codes, so that they will only play within the designated region. In addition, however, there is Region 0, which is a non region specific, and this is being used more by manufacturers.

The six regions are as follows:
1. USA and Canada
2. Europe, the Middle East and South Africa
3. Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Borneo and Indonesia
4. Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, the Caribbean, South America
5. India, Africa, Russia and former Soviet Union
6. China

DVDs and videos, in addition, will only work correctly if played through a compatible television system.

The three world standards  are PAL, NTSC and SECAM.

All of our videos are in PAL format, unless we state otherwise.

Some newer DVD/VCRs are able to play multiple formats. Please check your manual or contact the DVD/VCR manufacturer for further information.
