The author looks in depth at the history of the Furness Railway in the period leading up to the Grouping in 1923, and covers the company's lines, locomotives, rolling stock and stations. It also looks at the lake steamers operated in its latter years. Throughout, the book includes a selection of some 150 mono illustrations recording all aspects of the railway's independent existence.
