Eastern Steam in Retrospect
Eastern Steam in Retrospect

£19.99

Stock type:  -
Stock reference:  44.074

The Eastern Region was a great attraction to railway enthusiasts in the years after nationalisation. Locomotives designed by Sir Nigel Gresley were in charge of most of the principal expresses, backed up by other LNER designs. Large numbers of engines dating back to the pre-Grouping railways were still active, some having completed over 60 years' service.

The 200 photographs in Eastern Steam in Retrospect have been carefully selected to convey the essence of these exciting times, when it seemed that steam would remain unchallenged for years.

Eric Sawford's knowledgeable and enthusiastic text brings back many memories of the era, and will be essential reading for the general enthusiast, as well as for modellers, preservationists and historians.
