When the LNER was formed in 1923, none of the component companies were running trains with an official title. In 1924 the development of titled trains began with the 'Flying Scotsman' being one of the first. This book looks at express passenger trains that carried titles such as the 'Aberdonian', 'Queen of Scots', 'Sheffield Pullman' and others.
A detailed text and archive photographs, many being published for the first time, show these prestigious trains and their locomotives from LNER days into the BR period. This is part one of a two-part set.
