This beautiful and interesting length of rural railway has always been relegated to a small section in books on the Somerset & Dorset line.
The line was actually part of the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway, being jointly owned by the London & South Western Railway (L&SWR) and the Midland Railway (MR).
