The Hall class 4-6-0s were introduced in 1928 and could be found spread across the GWR network, except where weight restrictions were severe. Possibly the most famous member of the class was number 4983 'Albert Hall'. These successful machines remained in service until almost the end of steam on BR, and a number of them were rescued from Barry scrapyard and can still be seen today on preserved lines.
