C C Green`s affection for this popular line is well known. The culmination of years of devoted research, this epic and thorough work covers not only the history of the line but also a review of the locomotives and rolling stock and detailed descriptions of the route and stations.

The line is famous as it became BR property and continued to be steam worked beyond the end of standard gauge steam on BR in 1968. The line's 2-6-2T locomotives were distinctive, but one of the early locos was a Bagnall 2-4-0T which had previously worked on the short-lived Plynlimon & Hafan Railway.

With maps, timetables, track plans and over 380 pictures, this beautiful book must surely be regarded as the standard work on the subject.
