Lancashire & Yorkshire Wagons Vol 1
Lancashire & Yorkshire Wagons Vol 1

£21.95

Stock type:  -
Stock reference:  112.015

The story of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway goods wagons begins with the first orders of the Manchester and Leeds Railway in 1839. It continues to the present day, where a few preserved examples have somehow survived the sixty-odd years since the demise of the company.

This is a history of about 67,500 vehicles built, bought, or acquired over an 83 year period, with subsequent alterations by their later owners. It is intended to describe not only the wagons themselves, and what they looked like, but also what they did; the trains, traffic and materials which influenced them and how the L & Y management went about the job of looking after and extending the range and value of their stock.
