The author, David Hucknall,who is an expert on railway architecture, has put together this fascinating record of the finest signalboxes that have survived from what is termed 'The Golden Age of British Railways'.
The book reflects the current Railtrack zones, and has numerous, previously unpublished, photographs of many of the boxes originally built for the likes of the Great Western, Great Eastern and so on.
