Diesel Days: Scotland
Diesel Days: Scotland

£19.99

Stock type:  -
Stock reference:  33.362

An album of top quality photographs by well-known photographers, some not previously published. They depict diesel locomotives and multiple units in use across Scotland, plus some on shed.

Perhaps the best known Scottish diesels were the class 26 and class 27 locomotives, some of which were to be found until the late 1960s far south of the border on the former Midland Railway.

All of the D6100 diesel-electric locomotives were allocated to Scotland, where they had been built by the North British Locomotive Company. These had rather short lives, as did the D8500 series centre-cab Clayton locomotives.

More recently Scotland has been associated with the class 37 and class 47 diesel-electric locomotives. This book covers the various diesel locomotive types which operated in Scotland from the 1950s to the 1970s.
