This book begins Yeadon's coverage of NER (North Eastern Railway) 0-6-0s by looking at classes J71 and J72.
LNER's class 71 0-6-0Ts were designed by T W Worsdell and entered service in 1886 as NER class E. The designer's brother Wilson Worsdell developed the design as NBR class E1, LNER class J72. Eight of them were built as late as 1951 by BR.
