Well known and highly regarded railway author Kevin Robertson has unearthed a wealth of unpublished pictures of Britain's railways. The selection of pictures he has chosen for this colourful portrait illustrates the variety of different motive power and infrastructure to be seen on the Southern, from the independent Southern Railway of the 1920s right through to the BR Southern Region era.
The pictures show wide range of subjects of interest to enthusiasts and modellers - locomotives, rolling stock, stations, signalling and other infrastructure - together with some fascinating social history including newsworthy events of the times and stories of people working on and using the railways.
The quality of the photographs is simply stunning and no Southern fan will fail to be impressed.
