An authoritative and captivating album of rare pre-grouping GWR photographs, specifically from the period between 1899 and 1922.
This book explores, through well over a hundred good quality photographs, the era of transition from the classic Great Western Railway 2-2-2 and 4-2-2 locomotives to the larger and more powerful 4-4-0s and 4-6-0s.
Also illustrated are the GWR 4-4-2 and 4-6-2 designs which did not progress into large scale production.
All of the photographs of these Great Western Railway locomotives are accompanied by knowledgeable and informative captions, which bring the images to life.
