For nearly 150 years, the route has served the developing residential areas west of London and, for over 40 years, it also carried numerous freight trains to the massive Feltham Marshalling Yard. The diversity of these trains and also of the `Royal Specials` is extensively illustrated, along with the many changes that the stations have undergone over the years.
