This programme consists of quality cine film from various sources. It dates from the 1960s, when steam locomotives mixed with first generation BR DMUs. There are enthusiast's specials, including one formed of two guards vans pulled by an 0-6-0 diesel shunter of class 03.
Historic footage shows railway lines which are long gone, including the route from Scarborough to Whitby via Ravenscar and Robin Hood's Bay along this scenic coastal route.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is shown as it was under BR ownership. It is interesting to compare this footage with the line from Pickering to Grosmont as it is today in preservation.
