For more than a century the crescendo of train doors being slammed shut was an everyday feature of the southern London termini and at stations on the electrified lines of the south. That era has now passed, along with the demise of the slam-door EMUs which feature heavily is this DVD.
Modern sliding-door stock has replaced the old style EMUs with classes such as 319, 375, 377, 444, 458, 460, 465 and 466. These newer classes feature in this DVD and provide a contrast to the slam-door stock.
This DVD was filmed on the Southern electrified lines around London. It is a celebration of modern comfortable trains and of the nostalgic slam-door era.
