Join the driver of this heritage class 108 diesel multiple unit (DMU) on an 85 mile journey of contrasting scenery, with coastline and rural areas, plus industry around Workington.
This trip from Barrow-in-Furness to Carlisle was filmed on 3rd October 1990 from a train composed of coaches 53958 and 54227. The journey takes in the tracks of the former Furness Railway (FR), London & North Western Railway (LNWR) and the Maryport & Carlisle Railway (MCR). The route has 24 intermediate stations, but only 5 of them are booked as stops.
The authentic sounds of the DMU cab environment form a background to the journey, including conversations which take place in the cab.
