Driver's Eye View Uckfield To East Croydon
The camera rides along beside the driver in this cab ride on board a class 205 DMU from Uckfield to East Croydon, one of only two lines to operate this type of unit before their withdrawal.
Known as 'Thumpers' due to the distinctive sound of their diesel engines, a noise which is faithfully captured on this programme, these units were the exclusive trains on the Uckfield branch.
The southern end of the route was previously part of the London Brighton & South Coast Railway (LBSCR), while a smaller distance was previously part of the South Eastern & Chatham Railway (SECR). See the view from unit number 205009 as it winds its way through classic Sussex, Kent and Surrey scenery.
