Not all of the London Underground system is in deep level tunnels. This programme is a cab ride in District Line trains along the two south westerly surface routes from Earls Court.
The first cab ride is from South Kensington to the District Line terminus at Richmond, stopping at eleven stations en route. Much of the route was formerly part of the London & South Western Railway (LSWR). Plus the return trip to Earls Court.
A second cab ride takes us along the District Line from Earls Court to the terminus at Wimbledon, with eight stops en route. Much of this line too was formerly the London & South Western Railway (LSWR) and is still used by diverted mainline trains and empty stock workings. We end by returning from Wimbledon to Earls Court and continuing on to South Kensington.
This programme is a combination of footage previously issued as two separate video tapes
