World Steam Adventures
Produced in the last months before the notorious Berlin Wall and its wire were removed in 1989, this programme looks at working steam in a country where, contrary to popular belief, the railway enthusiast is welcomed.
This tape was filmed in the company of a party of enthusiasts, who spent two weeks exploring narrow gauge steam, some of which survives confidently, and some of which is under threat of extinction. Lineside action is featured, including Saxon Meyer 0-4-4-0Ts at Mugeln and street running at Bad Doberan. The opportunity is also taken to glimpse the few mainline steam survivors.
