Steam Across the World - 9.
In the 1970s, the Republic of South Africa was a paradise for the steam enthusiast with large portions of the state rail network still entirely steam-operated.
Part 2 continues the trip to South Africa, concentrating this time on East West and North Cape. The footage looks at the Eastern Cape branches, Cape Town, George, Mafeking, the condensers and non-condensers on Kimberley and on the De Aar main line.
The programme is taken from colour cine film and includes a full informative commentary.
