Continues the look at steam shed operations in part 1 of the series. This time we look closely at the repair work that was necessary in order to keep the fleet in service. Boilers had to be washed out, joints had to be tightened, bearings replaced and a variety of other work.
We see a new bearing being made for a tender axle of a Bulleid Pacific locomotive. The work of the shed pilots is examined and boiler washouts are shown. This is authentic - it is what life in a steam locomotive depot was really like.
