Continuing this excellent series about the steam locomotives which could be found working in the West Riding of Yorkshire in the 1960s. This programme explores three major routes and a number of branch lines.
The steam engine shed at Mirfield (ex-Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway) is explored and passing rail traffic is watched. Other locations include: Heaton Lodge Junction, Huddersfield, Leeds City station, Leeds Holbeck shed, Bradford, the Copy Pit route (complete with steam action banking freight trains), Shipley, Hellifield and Skipton.
Branch lines visited include the Worth Valley and Ingleton lines. The programme is rounded off by a cab ride in a class 45 1Co-Co1 diesel-electric locomotive on the Midland Railway (MR) Settle & Carlisle route as far as Ais Gill.
Lots of steam action, plus a few early diesels, steam depots and the famous Settle & Carlisle line.
