This, the second volume in the British Goods Wagons in Colour series, focuses on the wagons in use after the end of steam on British Rail up to the year 2000. The period was one of transition, with unfitted vehicles being withdrawn and then vacuum-braked goods wagons being replaced by modern air-braked examples.
The book looks in detail at the many and varied wagon types. Many of the high capacity air-braked private owner wagons were specially built for use in the modern British Rail era.
