Manning Wardle made distinctive steam locomotives at their works in the Leeds suburb of Hunslet until being absorbed into the Hunslet Engine Company.
The classic Manning Wardle locomotive was a saddle tank of 0-4-0 or 0-6-0 wheel arrangement. These could be found all over Britain and across the world, indeed examples are now preserved in various countries.
