Long Lost Railways to the Coast in the 1960s
When Doctor Beeching produced the famous 'Beeching Report' (actually titled 'The Reshaping of British Railways') he introduced the concepts of economically viable services and socially necessary services. The consequence was that many miles of line which were neither economic nor socially necessary faced extinction.
This programme features lines which were closed following publication of the report, with film shot in the 1960s. It shows that steam was still in everyday use, along with 'Diesel Dawn' classes (which were then very new).

- Hayling Island branch (LBSCR)
- Clevedon to Yatton (GWR)
