A celebration of steam on the preserved Swanage Railway, through six miles of pleasant countryside, including traditional buildings constructed using the local Purbeck stone.
The seaside resort of Swanage was once served directly by through coaches from London's Waterloo station, plus local services. Changing holiday habits brought about closure of the line, but its charms and potential were obvious to preservationists whose hard work gradually brought the line back to life.
Today the line is operated by historic steam locomotives, both large and small. Experience the nostalgia of the times evoked by this journey into the almost forgotten world of steam operated branch lines in Britain.
