The West Riding of Yorkshire was full of wonder for enthusiasts in the late days of steam, when locomotives of LMS, LNER, WD (MoS) and BR design could be seen in everyday service. This programme is a nostalgic look at steam workings in the area in the late 1950s and the 1960s.
Featured locations include: Bradford, Bradford Low Moor shed (seen after closure), Doncaster, Doncaster Works, Huddersfield, Leeds, Leeds Holbeck shed, Mirfield and Wakefield.
This cine footage is now available on DVD. It shows the steam locomotives as they really were in the days when steam was being phased out, with rust, limescale, soot and leaking joints. For those who like their steam engines clean, there are shining examples which had been carefully prepared for hauling special trains.
