Manchester to Bury
Manchester Victoria station is the pivotal location in this archive footage dating from the 1960s, when steam locomotives of LMS and BR design were still in everyday use in the area.
Featured locations include Miles Platting Bank, a significant obstacle facing main line trains heading east out of Manchester Victoria station. Newton Heath shed is visited, looking very similar to what it did in Midland Railway days. There's also a visit to Patricroft depot, an early closure victim.
Industrial locations are included, showing that steam was still alive and well shunting on industrial lines.
