From the launch in 1838 of Brunel's 'Great Western' to the latest Cunard liner 'Queen Mary 2', the age of the transatlantic liner is still very much alive. By the late 19th century the golden age of the liners was underway and the scene set for a growth and later decline in this luxury form of travel.
In this publication the authors have worked together to produce a pictorial tribute to this period in maritime history, drawing upon Robert McDougall's extensive collection of postcards and memorabilia, plus text and captions.
